Hello! I'm Nicole Li
I'm a third year student studying Industrial Design at the Ohio State University.

Mobility Match
A project that challenges how a brand, such as Rheem, can expand their target market space from heating and cooling to a personal mobility device, like rollerblades, by incorporating their brand language into the product.

Rest Stop - Bike Rack
This bike rack and shelter is designed for the Timashev Family Music Building. It is based on music notes with the shelter representing a bass clef and the bike racks representing a fermata which is a play on words. The fermata in music terms means to hold a note, but as a bike rack it means to hold one's bike.

Light of the Deep
A project with a focus on the use of lights. I created a turtle made purely out of plastic water bottles sewn together with string to mimic the effects of waste on the environment and the creatures. The use of light represents the beating heart of the turtle and the shadows produced reflects the use of the plastic bottles. Later reworking this project (Working Backwards) to emphasize this theme.

Perfect Fit - Cyberpunk Respirator Mask
This concept is a more fashionable and less bulky rendition of a respirator mask. It is cyberpunk-like rendition of a respirator mask made to fit the head and the needs of a classmate, Sophie. These needs include a mask that doesn't scrunch up hair or put strain on the head and ears when wearing as well as a mask that makes eating and drinking efficient.

A Place Called Home in a Flicker of Time
A birdhouse made for the cedar waxwing - a species of birds that love to travel and are quick to adapt to various environments. This birdhouse is made to both harmonize and contrast with the characteristics and nesting pattern of the bird through the materials used: weaved raffia grass to harmonize and wood to contrast.

Zento
The Zento is a lunch mat inspired by the Japanese furoshiki lunch bag and zen gardens. Made with recycled fabric, it is designed to allow people to slow down and take their time to enjoy their food through the meditative act of wrapping and unwrapping their meal.
